History is NOW & IN Both Directions of TIME

‘Time Marches On;

Sometimes With Such Great Force

Events Echo for Generations”

Amy Siskind is President and Co-founder of The New Agenda, a national organization working on issues including economic independence and advancement, gender representation and bias, and campus sexual assault.

Amy’s advocacy for equality now occurs alongside her mission as one of the most thorough and vocal observers of our failing-but-not-yet-failed democracy.

“Experts in authoritarianism advise to keep a list of things subtly changing around you, so you’ll remember.”

“We’re talking about saving our democracy versus becoming an authoritarian state.”

Heather Cox Richardson is a professor of American history; she chronicles today’s political landscape.

Her ability to make sense of today’s politics within the framework of America’s Constitution, laws, economy, and social customs provides an amazingly clear picture of what it means… and what it has meant to be an American.

“I’m a history professor interested in the contrast between image and reality in American politics. I believe in American democracy, despite its frequent failures.”

“History doesn’t repeat itself, but it sure rhymes.”

Democracy faces an unprecedented threat from an authoritarian movement built on lies and contempt for the rule of law. The first and most critical defense of democracy—a robust, independent free press—has been missing in action.

The Contrarian platforms an array of the brightest minds and keenest experts—legal scholars, historians, civil rights leaders, political activists, creatives, policymakers, and journalists—to deliver the unvarnished truth, make sense of the chaos, and help formulate a response to defeat the noxious threat we face today.

The Contrarian is unflinching, unapologetic, and unwavering in its commitment to truth-telling.

“Based on the belief that the world would be a better place if everyone paid more attention in history class, the goal of Anti-Social Studies is to promote an honest and diverse understanding of history. Whether it’s through social media, online courses, teacher trainings, or public speaking engagements, Anti-Social Studies seeks to help people better understand their world by contextualizing the chaos one historical tangent at a time.”

Anti-Social Studies was created by Emily Glankler to make History  engaging  and (dare I say…)  FUN!!!

Emily Glankler is a veteran High School Teacher in Austin, Texas; without gushing too much, Emily is the History Teacher all of us wish we’d had in High School.

Her wonderfully compact history lesson – 9 minutes & 14 seconds – is a marvelous introduction to the marvels of “Thinking like a Historian”.

The very, very minor quibble we have is that she may have left some “C’s” out:

C-ritical Thinking

C-onfusion

C-uriousity

Please watch her video soon & often as we journey through the Mountains of History looming over us and stretching out as far as the Minds-Eye can see.

Observing the Approach of History

There’s just so much… news… too much trump 2.0… it’s crazy… Each week looks to be overwhelmingly overwhelming… so many headlines, so many videos, so many opinions… and too many memes.

The relentless bombardment weighs on my soul… it’s exhausting…

In a meaningful way that’s the point.  Please don’t walk away.

If you allow yourself an opportunity to soak this in, you’ll realize all of “the crazy” is very much broken down into bite-sized chunks… and you don’t have to get lost & overwhelmed in the chaos of trump 2.0.

Staying connected to people who are capturing this American saga as best they can… are your rocks of trustworthy and reliable information as chaos rules the day-after-day-after day news cycles… a chaos which will soon be engulfed in the madness of the COMING STORM!

In some ways, which we’ll discuss at a later time, our current situation isn’t unknown; the Olympian quests we’re witnessing… the naked pursuits of Shakespearian power… will someday become the grandiose stories we agree to accept as true – someday becoming the stuff of legends… giving voice and form to the Heroes and Villains “we know” from our multitude of news medias.

These charismatic newsmakers and the epic news stories being told will come to epitomize and define our generational place in the annals & eras of human history. Thank you for staying with us!

Everything trump about everything trump 2.0 is everywhere all the time… always being told & retold in multiple media formats – video, print, newscasts, podcasts, social media posts, radio, billboards, pamphlets, word-of-mouth, user groups… sigh – competing for our attention in a world of algorithms training us to willingly allow marketers an inside track to our brainstem where “they” manipulate us.

We live in an information age unlike anything anyone – at any point in human history – could have envisioned; we are living in a world beyond the boundaries of science fiction.

Hopefully, these webpages will offer you intellectual refuge and trustworthy information resources to help you make sense out of… to make…

[drumroll]   Imagine the wise, sage philosophical HERO within you standing majestically tall with open arms, a serious & comforting smile etches across your soul… beckoning you into the future…

… to make sense out of all of this CRAZY.

It’s a lot to take in… and the world around us – around you & I – is only going to get more & more difficult to process.

Please Stay Connected.

Opinion Piece: Experts Matter

The goal of “stop the steal dot life” is not to interpret the news; the intention here is to present the environment of news as it occurred & is occurring… to capture the sensation of events supporting the analysis and in-depth understandings provided by experts in Law, Governmental Affairs. Journalism and History you’ll stumble upon in links on various pages.

YES! The people in the various links are EXPERTS

These amazing people understand, at a deep experiential level, the legal and governmental systems that establish & maintain a system of justice – the Rule of Law… the very exceptionalism which is the lifeblood flowing through the heart of the American Dream.

“Our problems are man-made — therefore, they can be solved by man.”

John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address in 1961.

At the time he said this… women were routinely & legally denied the right to have a credit card in their name; African Americans in the jim crow south were legally and terroristically denied the right to vote… people were sentenced to decades in prison for simple possession of marijuana and homosexuals were imprisoned and legally denied & deprived the right of gainful employment.

Hopefully, we can all agree with Martin Luther King Jr:

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
